MGG Productions powers Afrikaans is Groot

The FOH control was via a Soundcraft Vi6 and Vi3000 connected with RealTime Rack

South Africa - MGG Productions installed JBL VTX line arrays, Crown I-Tech HD amplifiers and Soundcraft Vi Consoles at the Afrikaans is Groot Music Show that was held recently, providing sound reinforcement for some of the most popular artists in the South African music industry today.
Organised by Coleske Artists, the Johannesburg leg of the annual music concert held at the Moreletapark Auditorium in Pretoria that seats more than 7000 people, saw nine sold-out shows.
MGG Productions were the sole technical suppliers for audio and lighting, with their project manager Denzil Smith and his expert team putting in many hours of hard work toward this popular event. Local Harman importers and distributors Wild & Marr were on-hand to provide additional technical support and EASE plots to ensure an even distribution of sound for the audience.
The audio system featured a total of 32 x JBL VTX V20 line array elements, 12 per side for the main PA, a centre-hang of eight JBL VTX V20, 10 x VT 4886 subcompact line array elements for front-fill and a combination of G28 and S25 subwoofers in cardioid formation.
An original sub design with two columns of 6 x S25 subwoofers in cardioid formation had to be abandoned because of sight line issues.
Apart from 25 channels of wireless in-ear monitors; JBL VTX F15, F12 and SRX 712 loudspeakers were used for on stage reinforcement.
All loudspeakers were powered by V-Racks, which included I-Tech 12000HDs and I-Tech 4x3500HD models featuring Crown's DriveCore technology. System management and control were handled with JBL HiQnet Performance Manager software.
The FOH control was equally impressive with Soundcraft Vi6 and Vi3000 connected with RealTime Rack. The Vi6 controlled all band inputs and additional multitracks for playout from Pro Tools. This was connected via an additional MADI card. The Vi6 was also used to trigger scenes to the Vi3000 via midi (and HiQnet which triggered the RealTime Rack). The Vi3000 was used to handle vocals and sub scenes.
